Ohio State has been known for its great head coaches: Woody Hayes, Earle Bruce, Jim Tressel, Urban Meyer, and many more. Still, great head coaches don’t become the best without the men they surround them, and Urban Meyer lost one of the best assistants he ever had over the weekend.
Usually, when you think of football coaches, you think of all of them coaching players and positions. Still, there is much more to the game than just the football part; an entire leadership part is significant. If you don’t have the right guy leading your team, winning at a high level is impossible.
Meyer’s former assistant, Tim Kight, passed away over the weekend, and his son, Brain Kight, went to social media and stated, “My dad, Tim Kight, died peacefully in his sleep last night. He was so many things, to so many people, to so many of you. Whether or not you got to meet him, you felt him. He was that kind of presence. But to me he was just Dad. And that was everything. I love you, Dad.”

According to an article from the Columbus Dispatch, Meyer was hosting a fundraiser at his home and ran into one of his guests, Tim Kight. Meyer thought Kight looked familiar and asked if he knew him, and that is when Kight stated he was a leadership development consultant.
The Ohio State head coach would then hire Kight to be a leadership consultant with the team. In 2013, Kight started working with the players, and then in 2014, he would begin to work with the other coaches on Meyer’s staff.
Kight was a significant part of Ohio State’s National Championship, and he will be remembered forever by many Buckeye coaches, players, and fans.
